GENERAL
Holy Island is a small island in the North Sea situated just off
the far north-east corner of England - approximately 5 miles due
East of the A1 Trunk road (at Beal crossroads).
It is also a tidal island. This means that safe access is
only possible during the times when the tide is open. These
'opening times' are predictable and vary from day-to-day. Access
is via a paved causeway and is suitable for all road
vehicles.
Details of the causeway opening times can be found on the following 'tide times' link.

DISTANCES
Subject to tide times, the Holy Island is conveniently located
midway between Edinburgh and Edinburgh. Indeed, many regular
visitors arrange day trips to these more populous centre
returning to the peace and tranquility of the Island to spend
their evenings.
WEATHER
With prevailing southwesterly winds, it is a fact that rainfall
on the east coast is lower than on the west. Additionally,
positioned just off the coast, we fall within the Cheviots' rain
shadow area - at our extremity of the Pennines. Being slightly
out to sea can give us a 5 degree temperature advantage over
places like Edinburgh and Newcastle. And in the summer, when it
can too hot on the mainland, there's usually a sea breeeze.
Having a low population, the nearest weather referral we can give
you is our nearest neighbour Berwick.
